NYC real-estate broker Wendy, 55, started Basis because the science made sense.

Mother of two and an avid runner and yogi, Wendy’s introduction to science-driven wellness started at an early age: She grew up vegetarian and her parents regularly hosted fasting retreats. "So, reading about Basis, I was intrigued and started digging a little deeper into the science,” said Wendy.

Every morning, I meditate for 20 minutes. I learned Transcendental Meditation about five years ago and it’s changed my life. I also do push-ups, crunches, and stretches at home every single day, no matter what. I run, cycle, row, and box occasionally.

I come from what you might call an eccentric background. My parents were way ahead of their time. When I was growing up, they ran health and fasting retreats. I also grew up vegetarian. I didn’t even taste meat until I was over 30 years old. So, reading about Basis, I was intrigued and started digging a little deeper into the science.

It was a combination of the science of Basis making sense to me and the impressive pedigree of ownership and scientific board, including Leonard Guarente, of course. My brother-in-law is a geneticist and he’s a big fan of Guarente.

As we age, women tend to become less sensual, focusing instead on what's not the same as it was at a younger age. Having let go of the hang ups that were a product of the time in which I grew up, I’m using this moment in life to explore and enjoy more sensuality. There's a sense of freedom, combined with fresh energy and feeling supple and resilient, sexually and otherwise, that is truly amazing.
