NAD+ is indispensable for life, and levels decline as we age. Basis is a daily supplement developed by Elysium chief scientist, renowned aging researcher, and professor Leonard Guarente, Ph.D., clinically proven to increase and sustain NAD+ levels to:

  • Combat cellular aging
  • Activate sirtuins, referred to by scientists as the “guardians of the genome” for their role in protection of genome stability during stress response
  • Support cellular energy and help maintain healthy DNA
  • Maintain hundreds of integral processes in your cells

Basis contains two ingredients that support cellular health:

  • Nicotinamide Riboside (NR-E)

A naturally occurring form of vitamin B3 and highly efficient precursor to NAD+—the raw material that the body uses to make NAD+ via a two-step process. NR has been shown to preferentially elevate NAD+ compared to other vitamin B3 forms such as nicotinic acid and nicotinamide, also called niacin.
  • Pterostilbene (PT)

A powerful polyphenol naturally produced by plants to protect against internal and external stress. The potent combination of NR and pterostilbene in Basis is designed to increase NAD+ levels and counter the decrease in the activity of sirtuins, which occurs with normal aging.
  • Vegetarian, vegan, certified gluten-free, nut-free, and contains no artificial colors or flavors.
  • NSF for Sport certified, the only independent third-party certification program recognized by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA)
  • See nutrition label for more information.
  • The quality and purity information of every lot is available here.
  • Take two capsules in the morning, with or without food.
  • Each bottle contains a 30-day supply.
  • This product is only intended for healthy adults. Do not take if you are pregnant or nursing. Consult with your physician before using.

NAD+ Declines Universally as We Age

NAD+ (Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide), is a critical coenzyme found in every cell in your body. It is indispensable for life, and is essential to cellular metabolism, the chemistry that keeps you up and running.

NAD+ levels and sirtuin function naturally decline as we age.

Basis Increases NAD+ Levels by 40%, Safely and Sustainably

We now have a way to safely and sustainably boost NAD+ levels. Developed by an MIT scientist, Basis was clinically proven to increase NAD+ levels by an average of 40% in a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial published in the peer-reviewed journal Nature Partner Journals: Aging and Mechanisms of Disease

Boosted NAD+ activates sirtuins, supports cellular energy and metabolism, targets cellular aging to promote a healthy cellular aging process, and helps maintain healthy DNA.

“My biggest hope is that we can make available to people something that is currently unavailable, and that it will have a positive impact on their health.”

Backed by Clinical Trials: Basis is Proven to Work

Basis is the only supplement clinically proven to safely and sustainably increase NAD+ by an average of 40%. Elysium’s recent toxicology study also confirmed the superior safety of the NR-E in Basis when compared to other NAD+ supplements, underscoring the company’s rigorous commitment to research and quality.

Developed by Elysium chief scientist and director of the Glenn Center for Biology of Aging Research at MIT Dr. Leonard Guarente, the synergistic combination of Elysium’s proprietary and patented high-purity nicotinamide riboside (NR-E) with potent antioxidant pterostilbene (PT) makes Basis extraordinarily effective. Basis is third-party tested by independent labs both during and after manufacture for purity and quality, and is independently verified as NSF Certified for Sport.

Live your best life with healthy cells.

“In my lab, we are constantly asking, 'What's the utility of this pure science that we're doing? Let's nudge it a little bit in a direction where people can connect to it and, hopefully, help them in some way.' Basis is the result of this kind of thinking - decades of research focused on the importance of sirtuins and NAD+ that led to a product that people can use in their everyday lives to support their cellular health.”

Kirsty Godso

Nike Master Trainer, Performance Specialist at Elysium Health

“I believe in keeping things ultra simple. One of my go-to ways to invest in myself is keeping my body’s cells in top shape. I take the NAD+ booster Basis—created by an MIT scientist—to optimize cellular metabolism and cellular energy.”

Morgan Levine, Ph.D.

Yale Center for Research on Aging (Y-Age)

“As a scientist who studies the biological aging process, I feel lucky to have a front-row seat to the amazing discoveries coming out of this field. As such, I make every attempt to apply what my colleagues and I are learning in the lab to what I do in my everyday life. In addition to following a specific dietary plan, practicing fasting, engaging in high intensity exercise, and trying to get 7.5 hours of sleep per night, I am also a proud user of Basis. In fact, it is the only supplement I currently use.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Sirtuins are a family of proteins that regulate cellular health. Sirtuins play a key role in regulating cellular homeostasis. Homeostasis involves keeping the cell in balance. However, sirtuins can only function in the presence of NAD+, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, a coenzyme found in all living cells.
NAD+, or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, is a critical coenzyme found in every cell in your body, and it’s involved in hundreds of metabolic processes —ut NAD+ levels decline with age. NAD+ has two general sets of reactions in the human body: Helping turn nutrients into cellular energy as a key player in metabolism and working as a helper molecule for proteins that regulate other cellular functions. These processes are incredibly important.
This form of Vitamin B could be the key to increasing NAD+ levels — here’s why. Nicotinamide riboside is often called NR for short, and it’s a precursor to NAD+, meaning it's the raw material from which your body makes NAD+ through a series of chemical transformations. But not much was known about exactly what NR did in the body until 2004, when scientists discovered that, not only is NR a precursor to NAD+ production in the body, it’s thought to be more efficient than other NAD+ precursors.
Pterostilbene is a polyphenol, a type of molecule that occurs in plants, particularly small berries and nuts. Blueberries are a particularly rich source of pterostilbene; although it is found in grapes, pterostilbene (unlike its cousin resveratrol) doesn’t survive the wine-making process.
“Phenol” refers to a certain chemical structure (in this case, a hydroxyl group linked to a benzene ring); “poly” just means the molecules have more than one of the structure. One of polyphenols’ main jobs is to help the plant fight off pathogens. When eaten by humans, polyphenols may serve as powerful antioxidants.
Basis is designed to work beneath the surface, so its primary purpose is not to deliver surface-level results. Taking Basis is an investment in the long-term health of your cells, and you may not feel different despite the improvements happening inside your body. Everyone’s physiology is unique and results vary from person to person.
Elysium conducted a first-in-humans study demonstrating clearly that Basis can increase and sustain cellular NAD+ levels. Participants in the trial experienced a 40% average increase in cellular NAD+ levels within a month, which was maintained for the duration of the trial. We also tested a variety of biological markers to add to the existing body of evidence confirming that the ingredients in Basis are safe.
Our prepaid subscription plans are our most cost-effective options. When you select a semi-annual or annual plan, the pricing offers a savings to customers who commit to a long-term subscription. The longer the commitment, the greater the savings: $40/bottle for a 1-year (annual) subscription and $45/bottle for a 6-month (semi-annual) subscription. These prepaid subscriptions are considered final sale, so if you cancel in the middle of a 6-month or 1-year plan, you will continue to receive the remaining bottles, and the cancellation will take effect at the end of your plan before renewal. Our monthly subscriptions are $50/month and can be canceled at any time prior to your next shipment. You can also place a single-purchase order by selecting “Individual Purchase” on the checkout page for $60. Please contact our Customer Experience Team at care@elysiumhealth.com if you need to talk about your plan.
