Omar A. Baker, MD, FAAP
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Baker is chief medical officer at Elysium Health. His work as a healthcare executive and board-certified pediatrician has focused on value-based care, population health, and clinical innovation.
Prior to joining Elysium, Dr. Baker was best known for his leadership at UnitedHealth Group, where he served as deputy chief medical officer and helped shape strategies to improve quality, reduce the total cost of care, and modernize clinical operations across a network of approximately 90,000 physicians. He also served as executive vice president of strategic initiatives, innovation, and growth for OptumHealth and led key elements of UnitedHealth Group’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before joining UnitedHealth Group, Dr. Baker was president and chief executive officer of Riverside Medical Group, now OptumCare New Jersey. Under his leadership, the organization nearly doubled in revenue, expanded its provider and clinic network, and transitioned toward value-based and full-risk care models.
Dr. Baker completed his pediatric residency at NYU Langone Medical Center and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He holds a B.A. and an M.D. from The George Washington University.
